MUELLER, RULE OF LAW ABROGATED, 8 DECADES OF DEVOLUTION

This piece was written to a friend who supports the Mueller investigation, undoubtedly largely because of it's being Democrat instigated and his dislike of Trump. While he is one of the "good guys" on that side of politics, as with all opponents of Trump, that emotion prevails.
His hope is that "the rule of law will prevail." He fails to recognize that the rule of law is already all but abrogated.

To think that the rule of law will prevail in the Mueller investigation is a proper and noble "hope," Tom, but in today's environment I have grave doubts that the rule of law will prevail. Already over decades, the rule of law has been largely abrogated in many ways. It is being all but abrogated in the search for a crime of the assigned criminal, Trump. Virtually daily, he incites me to irritation, even anger, at the way he presents himself. But, the contrived search for a crime, especially as crime is obvious in so much of his opposition, is just wrong. To initiate a special counsel assignment to look for Russian collusion and gravitate to charges of sexual improprieties, even 10-12 years ago, and spend 10s of millions of taxpayer dollars, is itself a crime against citizens... and there is more impropriety. Using the rule of law to entrap a person such as Gen. Flynn is not only abrogation of the law but is morally and ethically wrong. Yes, just one more symptom, resultant, of the 8 decades long cultural revolution which has repealed absolutes of morals, ethics of what is right and what's wrong in favor of whatever can be deemed legal! And with the decline goes honor and dignity. It's purely linear, nonanalytical thinking, wrong, to treat each and every case of societal problems today as chance occurrences at a moment in time. Our societal problems, and our dysfunctional government, are products of long-term decline in the principles that defined us. Literally a march to perdition since the 1950's. As you do, I think Trump is not the one to correct all past "sins." However, he was the only presidential candidate in 2016 who could, and would, stop the herd's march to perdition. He has interrupted the march, and has upset many of the marching herd in doing so. If he is brought down, the worst among us will have won and the transformation of America will continue to completion--a lesser nation more at parity with others less than our America.
