IMMIGRATION, THE "CARAVAN": Some truth about the purpose, the use and abuse of migrants for political purposes by the Democrats.

Given 30+ years of association with good people in Latin America, especially Mexico, with many lasting and loving friendships, I am saddened to see so many innocent needy people being used by some of the worst among us, big financiers of the Democrats, for their own political benefits. Those who rant and rave about the injustice of the USA know very little, even nothing, about the real conditions of the people and their being "managed," aka used. To use a current buzz word, "weaponizing the innocent people." The kindest thing I can say about the those raving and ranting is that you are ignorant of facts. The worst is that you are only playing to the biases of your political affiliation for voter bloc concerns.

    Mr. Mann,

    I'm not entirely sure that you'll remember me, but I thought Id reach out to you in order to discuss something thats been on my mind since October of 2012. You and I met and became 'friends', bonding over a shared passion for fiscal conservatism, patriotism, and sorting fact from fiction in the age of koolaid drinkers from both extremes of the political spectrum. We sat together for a couple of hours, a few days a week, at the GOP HQ off of Rt 199. And I must say, I enjoyed your company tremendously. In fact, you were quite possibly the only person that I interacted with that even remotely had a clue what they were talking about. Sadly, I was accused of being a 'spy' for the democratic party, and then publicly humiliated and embarrassed by the Sheriff (Deeds?), who escorted me out of the building, brandishing all the tools at his disposal -- his badge, his weapon, and his "title" in order to intimidate and manipulate me. Like I said, I'm not sure if you remember that day or not... you were sitting next to me as it all happened. You also got up, came to the door, and both the Sheriff and Amanda Johnston told you that it was a 'private matter'. That was the last time you and I ever talked.

    For 6 years now, I've followed your work on this blog. We agree on about 90-95% of the issues. And even on the 5-10% we disagree upon, I always walk away from reading your thoughts -- with an open mind, and an intellectual stimulation that is rare among conversations with other fellow conservatives. I suppose what I've enjoyed the most about your blogs, is that more often than not, you display a genuinely pragmatic approach to the policies, rather than dogma that most others could never even begin to defend under even the gentlest of cross examination. I appreciated your friendship and dialogue from 2012, and am still grateful to have met you.

    I'd like to discuss a few things with you in a more private setting (email?). I recall you telling me that you had had difficulty with many of the rank and file within the local and state Republican Party. And it wasn't until I was harrassed, by the Sheriff and Chairman of the GOP (Deed/Johnston) nonetheless, that I realized exactly what you were talking about.

    I have in my possession, a short duration video (w/ audio) clip of that day and interaction. I've held it close to my heart, and tried to show dignity and grace. However, I feel as if it now time to come forward and let the locals see who and what they have chosen as their leaders. I'm not big on scandals... and I don't desire to create a mess. But, this my #MeToo moment. I feel strongly that I'm not the first man who has been mistreated by these two losers.

    I suppose that I'm reaching out to YOU, more so than any other reason, is because I trust you and your guidance. I'm Veteran of Iraq (2 tours).. thus I have integrity, humility, and compassion at my disposal. Yet... because of my experiences in combat, I also have the backbone and the strength to step forward and share my story with anyone who is willing to hear it.

    If we can chat through email, I'll gladly divulge much more detail with you about the events that transpired that day. I'm asking for only your counsel in this matter. Like I said...     I hope to hear from you soon. And let me just say, I apologize if this message comes across as a bit crazy. Upon re-reading what I just wrote, I could entirely understand how one could reach that conclusion. If you'd rather stay out, or otherwise not be involved, a simple "no thanks" would suffice.

    And if that be the case, I'll continue to read your blogs every few days with anticipation and excitement.

ETHANOL -- The worst mandate ever gets even worse

When politicians get control of science and the inept or dishonest scientists, nothing good comes of it. There are many examples -- global warming (aka climate change) is the most prominent. The ethanol mandate, although a part of the climate change mania, stands on its own as arguably the most ridiculous mandate of all time. President Jimmy Carter, who was influenced by a misguided college professor, can be charged with the mistake of promulgating the ethanol mandate.  Of course, Al Gore is the politician who played the global warming issue like a drum and has benefited financially from it. Use of ethanol in motor fuel is not a net positive either in costs or in impact on the environment.... enormous hype to the contrary notwithstanding. Ethanol does not have the positive effect on the environment as touted.
