TRUMP IN HELSINKI -- TRUE PERSPECTIVE

Having allowed a couple of days to pass since Trump's blunder at Helsinki, and I believe that it was a blunder of considerable magnitude, let us breathe in through our noses and out through our mouths. Let us end the ridiculous, and sadly predictable howls from President Trump's enemies and detractors in the Democrat Party, the "progressive" left, and their allies in the media, academia, and the vast array of braying asses that come out to exploit any perceived chink in his armor. This wholesale, blathering outrage at a populist president serves neither the nation, nor world peace, well. Hyperbolic and ridiculous accusations, and proposed courses of action that defy the tenets of the Constitution serve no useful purpose.
Did Russia attempt to meddle in our election, as it has meddled in every aspect of American life it could since 1917? Of course it did! Should POTUS get in a pissing contest in front of the world with Putin? Another matter altogether. Could and should he have handled it more smoothly? One can certainly make the argument. Should he have absolutely not worded his response in a way that it could be interpreted as support of Putin's story, and at the expense of the rank and file of our intelligence and counterintelligence personnel? Yes. If, however, one listened to John Brennan's over the top accusation of treason, and if one considers the subversive machinations of the bureaucrats running these organizations, one can appreciate how he might have run out of patience with these organizations.
FYI, while my comrades in arms and I were fighting communism in Vietnam, this putrid slime-ball, John Brennan, was a communist himself. How he ever got even an entry level security clearance baffles me. I do not accept this disgusting pile of seditious ambulatory ordure as any part of a standard bearer for opposition to either communism or Russian espionage, and neither should you. If anyone is likely to be a subverted minion for Putin's government, then or now, it is John Brennan, not Trump. Whom do I believe here? The former communist, quite possibly an asset for Putin's agents then and now? Or do I tut-tut the president who expelled 60 or more Russian "diplomats", closed the Russian consulate in Seattle, counseled Merkel against the pipeline to Russia, increased sales of LNG and oil to Western Europe all after raising our GDP to a point considered impossible by his predecessor, lowering unemployment, especially among women and minorities, brought departed C&I back from offshore where it was driven by the previous administration while bringing in new investors and industries? The man making the first real strides toward North Korea denuclearization in more than three decades, forcing the NATO members to begin carrying their share of the expense for defending them against; yes, the Russians? The president who also gave real weapons to the Ukrainians, killed Russian mercernaries in Syria? Who has moved to thwart the Iranian expansionism supported by Russia? I'll forgive, if not forget, his misstep in Helsinki, and the same goes for his failure to separate the corrupt powers in the intelligence and counterintelligence community from the hard working rank and file agents.
Even more annoying are the sanctimony and hubris, both from the principals themselves and from their adherents, that disregard the reality that the very offenses under discussion occurred during the tenure of one Barack Obama, and on the watches of the very people who are most vicious and most vocal in trying to blame the events on Pres Trump!. To paraphrase the Bard, if it was a screw up, it was a grievous one, and grievously hath Trump answered it, and will continue to answer it. Let us try to return to some sense of reality and rationality. Let us try to reinvest our decisions and discussion with at least a modicum of intellectual honesty. Let us help ourselves by helping President Trump continue the excellent work he has accomplished to date. Disagree with my conclusion, friends and kin on the left? Then try doing as we did; shut the hell up and prepare to defeat him in the next election. It's the American way, after all.
