The best people among us do not present themselves for elective office , or even for appointed positions. This is now the norm for presidential elections. We are electing mediocre, and even inferior, unqualified people to lead us. And, they don't lead! Voters can look in the mirror and see who's responsible. Obama is the best example of this to-date. McCain was surely not the best among Republicans, but he would have been better for America. 2. Where have all the statesmen gone? There are few, if any, among the older elected officials. Let's try to understand the Keystone XL pipeline delay imposed by Obama. It goes like this: We have an oil based economy and will have for decades to come......to some degree forever. Yes, even if we develop alternatives where they are applicable, we will use oil forever. Our economy is suffering. We have fourteen million people who need jobs! OIL PRODUCTION CREATES JOBS! The president talks and talks and then talks some more about jobs.....uses huge amounts of tax dollars traipsing around the country allegedly promoting his "jobs bill" that isn't about jobs at all. It's more palaver...more campaign rhetoric to the impressionable people who vote reflexively for him. The president (a non-leader) promotes so-called green energy as the savior of the country and the ultimate job creator. TWO BIG PROBLEMS: 1) green energy doesn't create jobs as Spain has shown conclusively...it cuts employment, 2) Every person who has managed any significant enterprise know...

Can anyone comprehend (believe) that Jon Corzine takes over MF Global, institutes previously taboo trading in extremely high risk sovereign debt, is said to have personally directed the trades, even against advice of colleagues, and now doesn't know that the firm was insolvent and that $1.2 Billion of off-limits client funds are misused and now unaccounted for??? It doesn't pass the smell test and requires suspension of common sense to believe him. Oh yes....remember he is the person highly praised by Obama and Biden as a "genius on the economy" and was on the short list (of one) to be Treasury Secretary. Now the question! I can't but wonder how many people know who is running The White House and the whole Executive  Branch while Obama campaigns 24/7/365. Who do you think is in charge? Are you comfortable with Valerie Jarrette? For quite a while I have believed she runs the affairs and recently I am more convinced. It's OK though because the "president" always has his blackberry with him on his vacations. I wonder how many successful CEOs manage in absentia using only smart phones. But, 50% of the electorate couldn't care less, it would seem.

I don't know, yet, if Chris Christie is presidential timber. But, compared to most participants, including the current "president" (who isn't), he stands tall. It's refreshing to see a public servant, a politician, with straight forward honesty in dealing with people. One must admire the way he handles hecklers. It's only a matter of time, and that time will come when he is considered for national position, that the media will try to destroy him. As typically happens, the non-thinking electorate will follow the media lead like lemmings off the cliff  and will buy in to their disparaging attacks. They're coming, as surely as is the fawning over Obama to continue at a feverish level when his 2012 opponent is defined. Of course, Obama is campaigning 24/7 now, with taxpayer funding. Anyone who thinks he's governing must have been living in a cave without communication. It is what it is! Truth!

Today the Wall Street Journal published an article, "Iran Tries to Gain Sway in Latin America" mentioning the relationships that Ahmadinejad is building in Bolivia, Venezuelza, Nicaragua and Brazil. Not a mention of Hezbollah's base in the "Triple Frontier" of Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil. I learned of this on 9/11/2001, reported it, and didn't see anything published until 2007. On August 21, 2011, I wrote of it in rebuttal to a foolish article on immigration by a local writer. My write was rebutted by a community leftist who accused me of stretching fact. It just couldn't be true. It was! It is! At that time, there were 10,000 Google references and today those have grown to 68,000. Even after my seering counter to his foolish assertion and ignoring of the references, he buried a reference to me as a John Bircher in another foolish piece later. My dear wife, Carol, suggested that Newt probably knows about the election of 1860 and how the essence of that one relates to that of 2012. She may be correct, usually is, but why is he using it now, not earlier?  Still considering a claim of plagiarism. It's just one more piece of baggage he'll have to carry. Seriously now, the 2012 election will be the dirtiest, most corrupt and most expensive in history. As Nancy Pelosi has telegraphed, nothing will be off limits. More on this later, but for now, think that those in power now will do whatever necessary to protect their entrenchment in corruption and their goals of "transforming America" into the model they want, a model that has failed before and is failing rampantly in Europe now.

Apparently my post on the write attributed incorrectly to Thomas Sowell can use some clarification. I had received the piece earlier, attributed to Sowell, but doubted he was the writer -- not his style and not column length. It wasn't his. It was written by another person as a letter and the Knoxville paper used the wrong by-line. Mistakes do happen. Recently, my wife, Carol wrote an endorsement of her candidate for the VA General Assembly. The letter and attribution were fine.....but the headline was for the wrong candidate, just a legitimate mistake. It was corrected next edition. This week, I received the Sowell-attributed piece again -- this time from a friend, who fled Cuba during the revolution. He wrote of how the "Sowell" pieced described what he had experienced under Castro and Che during the revolutionary. This friend, who wants to not be attributed for obvious reasons, had come to me during the 2008 election to help my group defeat Obama. The concerns he had...

WELL, maybe Newt is reading my blog after all. He just made the statement, "the 2012 election will be the most critically important since 1860." Been saying that for couple of years.....said same in 2008...more important now. I am refining my immigration proposals of 2007-8 to send to the candidates next week. Let's see how they deal with it. It is far more comprehensive than Newt's and any other I've heard or read. To be effective in political activism always is a long shot, but the only way to be sure of total ineffectiveness is to do nothing. I encourage everyone who wants to protect traditional American principles and our culture to get active and defeat Obama and his vast cadre of czars and operatives in 2012.

Immediately below is commentary from a friend that I urge all to read. We met in 2008 as I was organizing activities to defeat presidential candidate Obama. It wasn't that I was enamored by McCain, rather I was very concerned about Obama. As written before, he had nothing to define him as qualified to be president, his associations were troubling and defined him to a large degree and his political leanings were socialist/Marxist. I think I was the first to be quoted on the socialism issue locally in our paper. To my post yesterday re AMR's chapter 11 filing relating my experiences over many years flying with AA, an AA pilot wrote a thoughtful comment that caused me to think a bit more about the precursors to conditions of their bankruptcy. Frankly, I have what is perhaps too much experience with trade unions and their excesses, but know less about others such as the airlines. After learning more about the negotiations of AA with their unions, I now think it's justifiable to post the comments below. I've seen too many industries destroyed by union excesses coupled with management incompetence in caving to excess demands. Today I received a nice letter from the "President -- Aadvantage Loyalty Program," American Airlines' frequent flyer program. On 09/12/2011, some readers will have read my post regarding how an American pilot and a couple of friendly flight attendants I met in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, helped me get an American flight out on the 6th day of being stranded after 9/11/2001.This was the good side of American Airlines and I'm sure there are more good examples.
